How to Install Wood Plugs

Wood plugs are useful for filling in and hiding unsightly screw holes. When milled from the same material as your decking, they can be almost invisible.

Because exotic hardwoods are so dense, you will need to predrill all of your holes. Start by countersinking a 3/8" hole in the deck board, then predrill a 1/8" hole completely through.

Secure teh board to the joist with stainless steel screws, then place a wood plug over the screw, gluing it in place with a waterproof adhesive.

With a chisel, knock of the tops of the plugs, then sand them down until they are level with the rest of the deck.
